Nerikomi Course

We are excited to announce a second round of Jenn's special Nerikomi class - the art of combining colored clay into stacks, swirls, and other unique compositions. We lengthened the course to 5 weeks to allow for some deeper dives into this technique. This class is for ceramicists of any level.

When: Five consecutive Saturdays in November from 5-8 pm.

​Cost: $260 (slightly more than the throwing classes due to the extra materials needed)

 

General lesson plan:​

Week 1:  Coloring the clay using mason stains, how to marble and layer for different effects, and making color blocks.

Week 2: Learn the process of cutting/building. Build vessels out of slabs/molding slabs/kurinuki cuts.

Week 3: Continuing with handbuilding techniques above. 

Week 3: Finishing up vessel shapes and preparing for first firing.

Week 4: Sanding and glazing for final firing.

Meet Jen

Jennifer has been making pottery since she was 13 and now enjoys hand building functional and decorative pieces. Her artwork is influenced by her life on the coast, her earth sciences career, and the cultural traditions of her family.
